Akamai Customer Experience Goes Up
June 19, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Content delivery network operator Akamai Technologies (akamai.com) announced on Monday that its retail customers on average experience significantly improved conversion rates after implementing Akamai's Dynamic Site Accelerator solution.
In comparing conversion rates for Akamai customers and non-Akamai customers from Internet Retailer's Top 500 list, Akamai customers averaging $100 million a year in revenues gained $11 million in additional revenues after adopting Akamai's approach to accelerating the speed of dynamically-generated site transactions. Akamai provides retailers with a platform for accelerating end-to-end e-commerce transactions, including page display, search, add-to-cart and check out processes.
Akamai's Dynamic Site Accelerator service uses Akamai's globally-distributed application and transaction acceleration platform to deliver enhanced and consistent site performance for retailers. The solution enables retailers to accelerate their dynamic transactions and interactive content, as well as increase browser to buyer conversion rates and reduce infrastructure costs by offloading traffic from customers' Web infrastructure.
"By leveraging Akamai's Dynamic Site Accelerator, retailers enjoy consistently high and fast performance across their Web sites while enhancing the customer experience," says Brad Rinklin, VP of marketing for Akamai Technologies. "Retailers can now feel free to enhance their sites with rich user interfaces leveraging technologies like AJAX and Adobe Flex without the worry of slowing down the browsing and buying experience."
Akamai announced last month it is offering live streaming for the Adobe Flash .flv format to deliver live, real-time audio and video formatted for playback using the Adobe Flash player
